Jackson Painting Wins Prestigious AWS Award

NEW YORK, NY (Feb. 16, 2006) — The 139th annual exhibition of the American Watercolor Society has chosen New York Nightlights, by Missouri artist Paul Jackson, for a prestigious honor, the Dong Kingman Award. It is rare to have a painting accepted into this exhibition, which has thousands of entries every year and fewer than 100 selected. Jackson will be honored April 28, 2006, at the Salmagundi Club in New York.

This is Jackson's second major award from the American Watercolor Society. He won the Hardy Gramatky Award in 1992 and was honored with Signature membership in 1999. There are fewer than 500 Signature members. Other noteable signature members include Georgia O'Keefe, Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth.

Dong Kingman, whose watercolor paintings enrich the collections of over 50 museums and institutions in the United States, is recognized as one of America’s premier watercolor masters.
