Lake Garda, Italy

Malcesine is the small city at the top end of Lake Garda. It served as the perfect plein air studio for our watercolor sketching tour.20121001-052608.jpg

We stayed at the Hotel Benacus, just a short, beautiful walk from town and sketched lakeside each day. The sunrises were mostly obscured by the tall mountains behind us, but the sunsets were unbelievably colorful and reflected by the lake.

A few new friendships were made as we sketched in public, and our sketchbooks got a workout with new vistas and wonderful experiences.

It was the experience of a lifetime. The workshop instruction on sketcking & journaling was unbelievable. I would do it again in a New York second. Paul’s expertise at finding beautiful, accommodating spots to sketch from, was magical. To be a Master at watercolor is one thing, but to be a Master Tour Guide, on top of that, is another.
