The Whitsundays
The magical Whitsundays are the jewel of Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef. The relaxed atmosphere makes a visit here worth all the effort. We kicked off our shoes an played on the beach, painted in the mangroves and walked through the rainforests. From Airlie Beach we ferried out to Hamilton Island for a few days. We definitely felt the resort experience, but not the adventure we tend to crave.
We enjoyed the slow pace for a bit, but couldn’t stand the sound of the clock ticking. We chartered a small plane and flew out to the barrier reef in search of the legendary heart reef. We found it!
The Heart Reef was smaller than I imagined, but no less thrilling to see. We also got a great view of Whitehaven Beach from above. Stunning!
The Reef was definitely one of the most beautiful places we found in Australia. There was far too much to see
It all, but what we could see we fell in love with.
Glad you got to see the Barrier Reef~ there’s nothing else quite like it in the world. ps the 3rd pic here is actually ‘Hill Inlet’. Did you walk on White Haven beach? It is like sugar it is so white and it makes a funny sound when you walk! Pure Bliss. Qualia on Hamilton Island is the Bees Knees! ; D Are you coming back to Oz after your Kiwi excursion?
